Those lying eyes...
The last thing you want to hear about before Christmas is about the eggs that life throws at people. So tough luck, if you don't like it then don't read this blog post. This is, of course, Egg Splatter and is exactly the purpose of this site so be prepared I caught a few of of those eggs thrown at me and am about to throw them on our wall.
I hate it when someone says 'no' when their eyes say yes and vice versa. I hate it even more when they know that I can read them but they try it anyway. I hate the most when that person is my 'working husband'.
It hurts to see and it hurts so much more when the lie is about something serious - like your marriage. I think I have seen the truth now. His glasses provide no cover for those lying eyes.
It was clear that his heart was taken from me and put to something else a long time ago. Now, though, it is clear, the lines have been drawn in the sand. He has made his priorities clear and for the first time I know where I stand.
At first, all you can hear is your heart beating as you take in those final words that make it clear that love packed up and left a long time ago. Beyond that, it is as if your eyes are refocusing after a time with bandages over them after surgery. You blink and after a little while things become clear, clearer than they were before.
They say that love is blind. Maybe it is when the one you love is allowed to take your heart and walk all over it for days, then weeks, then months and then years of that I cannot be certain. Right now I think it is time to pick up my heart for myself and tend to it before it is broken permanently.
It is downright crap that he chose to put things out honestly just before Christmas. But is there ever a good time?
Anyway, Web Monkey has lined me up a second 'drink' button so that you can buy me a 'real' drink simply because life sucks right now or you can add a comfort food. (Yes, coffee is real too but doesn't have the same effect).
Colgate Sensitive Pro-relief - a review
I am sure by now, for those of you in Australia, you would have seen the ice-water challenge advertisement put out by Colgate promoting their newest toothpaste. Well, I tried the challenge too!
Of course, a while ago now I was bursting with excitement with the possibility of a new solution to my sensitive teeth. With the new Colgate Sensitive Pro-relief in my hands I was wrapped.
When it came into my possession I followed the instructions to apply it to my sensitive teeth. I am not sure whether they meant that I should do it whilst at my desk punching out a blog post about how I got the toothpaste stash in the first place but I did it none the less.
So, before this advertisement even came into being, I found myself doing almost the same thing. Our refrigerator has a chilled water dispenser and as I do not allow anything but water in my office it was my only choice as I went about my evening paper-shuffle. I usually have to wait for the water to warm but gave it a go and, by golly, it worked! I found myself studying the glass as if it was the water that had changed when really it was the 'Pro-Argin' formula that had done the trick.
Almost two weeks later, the ice water advertisement came on and I found myself telling the television to tell me something I don't know whilst laughing to myself! The end of the advertisement says to use it 'for long lasting' relief which made me wonder, 'Wow long would it last?' So, I devised a plan..
I decided to put the toothpaste to the test. After using it about every other day for the full two weeks I stopped. My plan was to see how long it would be before I experienced sensitivity and to blog the results as part of my review. As I said, that was the plan...
.. until three months past without a single hint of sensitivity on any of my sensitive teeth. Now that is a totally different kind of pain! So tomorrow will be officially three months since I stopped using it and there is not a hint of sensitivity. I guess Colgate were definitely on a winner. If you have sensitive teeth then be sure to try it out!
Perfect Match: Blogs & Business
I came across an interesting web site yesterday called Business 2 Blogger. The purpose of the web site is to link businesses looking to promote their products with bloggers who would be prepared to blog about them.
I have had my curiosity tapped just enough to look to find out more because the ethics of promoting products for reward or just because it reflects your actual experience are two distinctly different things. Even here on Egg Splatter you can find out why we like the businesses and people that we do. Yes, anyone that has offered product or service for comments has been listed.
I wonder how honest other bloggers are and how savvy their readership is on picking up on Cash4Comments versus a real opinion. I guess it would be a spectrum of awareness. Curiosity makes me wish I was still affiliated with a University so that we could measure this.
As for Business 2 Blogger, they do have a page about 'the spirit' of being part of their matrix. It covers the basic principles that they expect both businesses and bloggers to follow. It has been an interesting approach for sure.
Too busy to blog..
One of the things about having a blog is the need for regular contributions. The interesting part about Egg Splatter is that it is a conglomeration of blogs on one site to spread the burden from one person to many.
In theory, this means more regular blog posts with a lower burden on contributors. Yes, in theory...
These past few weeks business has been chaotically busy at best. I am lucky to have found the time to scratch, at best, and Husband@Work has been just as busy. If it weren't for the meeting of toes in bed at some point during the night I would be sure we wouldn't know each other had 'knocked off' for the day.
Of course, it must be the season for it, maybe even the pre-pre-pre-Christmas rush that has also taken out my co-contributors too! A few have half written ones hiding out the back waiting to be finished off. Some will, no doubt, also be backdated so watch out for that too. We have all had our distractions of one sort or another.
Clearly, I have been so busy that I have not had time to splatter eggs for a few days and it is affecting my sleep. I hope that some writing will ease that and my bed and an accompanying set of toes will help rectify this.
So much for the theory of shared blogging!
Sensitive teeth anyone? (give-away)
Truth be told, I have always had sensitive teeth. It comes down to a problem with calcium absorption when I was a child, owed mostly to a lack of magnesium in my diet. Had my parents known this before my 15th birthday they could have done something to prevent teeth coming through that were badly de-calcified susceptible to cavities and ultra, ultra sensitive.
I, personally, have always struggled with toothpaste selection as a result waxing and waning between sensitive toothpastes that worked well but with a nasty after-taste, toothpastes that claimed they were for sensitive teeth but did nothing and regular toothpastes. One way or another I always would always wind up back at square one.
I recently discovered that a new sensitive toothpaste was about to hit the market and I am more than quietly excited about it. In fact, I was more than quietly excited I was taken to a point of crazy butterflies in my stomach when I was told I could try it before it even hits the market! It arrived today and
I am going to start using my tube tonight and will let you know how it goes!
Not only that, though, Colgate have given me sample sizes of their new Sensitive Pro-relief toothpaste to give away to friends, family and colleagues.
So, what about your teeth - are they sensitive too? If they are, then you can possibly have one five samples that I will give away through my blog.
To be in the running, simply log in or register with this web site (so we have an email address to contact you with) and post a comment telling the blog-o-sphere about your most painfully sensitive toothy moment. Please include your city (or region/general vicinity) and state. I will select people based on the quality of your comment in terms of detail, humour and general wit. Yes, a game of skill not chance - so have fun writing up your experience!
Please note: I do not sell, rent or give away personal details.
Here is mine:
My most painfully sensitive toothy moment came on the day of my wedding. The top tier of our wedding cake was Jaffa Mud Cake and it was covered with that ever sugary Christmas white fondant. I took a bite just as I was called up by the MC to throw the bouquet, resulting in all the guests watching me try to cover up the fact that my teeth were going wild at the explosion that the collision of sugar and saliva had created. It had me hopping to the dance floor in pain and drove me to rocketing the bouquet so far that it passed everyone's heads on its decent to the floor. The upside, was watching the mellay ensued!
